Detail

The journey of Thora Vingård started in 2014 when Heather and Johan Öberg fell in love with the landscape and the atmosphere of an area between Båstad and Torekov on the Bjäre Peninsula. In 2015, they planted around 300 Pinot Noir that became the foundation of Thora Vineyard. From that day, the journey has brought more vines and new varieties to the vineyard. Today, the vineyard has more than 30,000 vines. You will find grape varieties such as Solaris, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay but also grape varieties that are unique in Sweden, Pinot Meunier, Chenin Blanc and Gamay Noir.

Thora Vingård’s ambition does not stop here. As the vineyard is expanded, the project aims to build a winery to produce high quality wines using technical innovation and « savoir-faire ».

Thora Vineyard cultivates and encourages a biodiversity approach. This approach allows the vines and the unique ecosystem of the Bjäre Peninsula to interact in harmony. The goal is to grow quality grapes while minimizing the impact of agriculture on the surrounding environment. Thora Vingård believes in farming that is more respectful of living beings and uses biodynamical precepts to cultivate the land. The idea is to find a balance between what nature offers us and our desire to work the land to make high quality wines.

Assisted by Emma Berto and Romain Chichery, the vineyard’s technical managers, Heather and Johan are looking forward to continuing this journey and further developing friendly viticulture in Sweden.
