The Vineyard Stora Boråkra is located just outside Karlskrona in Blekinge, “Sweden’s garden”. We planted our first logs in 2009, and today have about 3500 logs in production. We grow the green grape Solaris, which is excellent for both sparkling wine and still wine. On the skins, we also ferment what is to become a Swedish Grappa, but it must not be called that in Sweden.
We receive visitors for vineyard tours and we have various wine tastings that are adapted to the customers’ wishes. We accept bus loads and accept smaller groups. We can also serve dinner with tasting, but only to closed parties. You pay for at least 8 participants. In the summer we have open screenings and tastings.
Väderö 2014. The farm is located in the middle of the classic agricultural landscape between Båstad and Torekov, with warm soils for vegetables, berries and fruit. In the same year, the first 300 Pinot Noir logs were planned, which were hand-planted in the spring of 2015.
Thora Vingård works as biodynamically as possible, and lets our vineyard and the unique terroir at Bjäre work together to create the high quality of the grapes with minimal negative impact. In this environment, Thora Vingård grows our logs and grapes, hand-harvests them, presses and vinifies them in Swedish and French oak barrels as well as steel tanks.
Today, the vineyard has expanded to include Solaris, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and in addition, several Pinot Noir varieties have been planted, with the vision of creating wines as well as sparkling wines of the highest quality.
The owners, Heather and Johan together with the French winemakers Emma Berto and Romain Chichery look forward to continuing this journey and developing the farm further, next with additional plantings in 2022 and the completion of a modern winery.
